Ouachita Challenge in Oden, AR
Race Type: Cycling
Distance: 100K (62 Miles)
Entry Fee: $100
Good weather, nice trails, driving distance, actual mountain bike trails!
I got to drive so I was able to bring all the supplies I needed for any scenario, so it helped me. There’s nowhere to fly into for this race from the DFW area.
This is a mountain bike race/tour. The trail part is on two major trials through National Forest area, the Womble, and the Ouachita trails. The dirt roads are well maintained forest service roads. I raced single speed and it was fun, but my gearing was way off. These trails are not supposed to be ridden any other time during the year so it’s a good chance to do so.
Upper 50s and cloudy at the start and getting into the upper 70s and sunny towards the end. Trail was nice and tacky and the creek crossings were ice cold.
Was the weather normal? Yes

A big 60ish mile loop through the woods. Unless you’re Bambi, you’re not seeing much.
